Young RBO Exclusive: Behind the Scenes Tour

Join us ahead of the Young RBO Nights for exclusive behind the scenes tours. 

In the center of the stage stands a large sculpture of a clown’s torso. They have a blue face, gold hair, a red nose and a few gold teeth and hold up a slot machine in one arm and a gold bag filled with arcade chips in the other. A performer wearing blue striped tracksuit bottoms holds up another performer wearing the same clothes. Behind them stands a performer wearing gold trousers. The stage is backlit with eerie red lighting which shows the outline of a line of performers. There are several helium balloons with the clown's face scattered on stage. They are performing the opera Samson and Delilah.

Samson et Dalila

13 May–3 June 2026

When Samson falls in love with Dalila, his strength – both physical and spiritual – is put to the test.

The stage is dark but set with a red backdrop with a spotlight focusing on two dancers. One dancer is lying on their back with one leg bent and their arms stretched upwards. Another dancer is staring into their eyes from above their head in a plank pose.

The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera join forces in a glittering night of music and dance.

Anna Rose O'Sullivan dressed in the costume for Lise in La Fille mal gardée. She wears a costume with a white bodice, light blue apron skirt, and brown corset and dances en pointe against a softly textured, multicolored backdrop. She holds a pink ribbons aloft, forming graceful arcs in the air as she smiles and strikes a joyful pose.

La Fille mal gardée

A ballet of pure sunshine.

Join dancers and creatives behind So Are We: León and Lightfoot in conversation about this exciting and stirring mixed programme which comes to the Main Stage in June.

The opera singer Mattia Olivieri, performing as Figaro, wears a top hat and blue tail jacket. He lifts and affectionately embraces the opera singer Siobhan Stagg who is performing as Susanna in The Royal Opera’s The Marriage of Figaro. Around them, the chorus, who are all wearing servant-style clothing and hold bouquets of flowers, look on excitedly while the soprano Hrachuhí Bassénz, who is performing as Countess Almaviva, sits in a chair wearing a champagne-colour long silk ballgown.

The Marriage of Figaro

4 June–2 July 2026

It’s Figaro’s wedding, and you’re invited to join the Almaviva household for an uproarious day of revelation and scandal.

On a black background are the words RBO SHIFT in white capitalised letters in a simple font over two lines with RBO on the top and SHIFT on the bottom. The letters have been designed to look like the words are in movement with vertical lines splitting through some of the letters in a seemingly random way. The letter B on the the top has horizontal lines going to the top of the image and the letters H I F and T have a similar effect going to the bottom of the image. This is the logo for RBO SHIFT, a festival exploring the intersection of opera and technology.
