Jennifer Walshe + EXAUDI + Dadabots / A Late Anthology of Early Music

Performance Start: 18:00

Composer Jennifer Walshe
EXAUDI Singers David de Winter, James Weeks, Jimmy Holliday, Lucy Goddard, Stephen Jeffes, Tom Lilburn

Jennifer Walshe has been at the vanguard of experimental composition and AI for many years, and is a leading voice in the imaginative and provocative conversation between AI and classical music.

Walshe uses AI to imagine an alternative early history of Western music. Dadabots, the duo of CJ Carr and Zack Zukowski, trained their neural network on Walshe’s voice, producing 841 files over 40 generations of training. In A Late Anthology of Early Music, Walshe maps these files – examples of how a machine learning system learned to listen to and replicate her voice – onto key works from the Western music repertoire, the system’s understanding of her voice evolving in tandem with the evolution of a newly-constructed music history. This presentation, in collaboration with vocal ensemble EXAUDI, features new versions of canonical works by composers including Hildegard von Bingen, Adam De La Halle, Perotinus, Machaut, Dunstable, Ockeghem, Dowland, Gesualdo and many more.

Esteban + Aoi – AΦE / LILITH.AI Lecture Performance

Performance Start: 19:10

LILITH.AI Lecture Performance is an intimate journey into the space between life and death, where technology and human experience intertwine. Through this performative lecture, artists Aoi and Esteban unfold their encounter with mortality – a personal loss that led them to discover Matheryn Naovaratpong, the youngest person to be cryogenically frozen, and ultimately to create their digital offspring, Lilith and an interactive installation LILITH.AEON. The performance weaves together the deeply personal and the universal, exploring humanity's eternal quest for immortality. Through movement and narrative, the artists reveal their dialogue with artificial intelligence, inviting us into a liminal space where ancient desires for eternal life meet cutting-edge innovation.

Reeps100 + Patricia Auchterlonie / -transference-

Performance Start: 20:00

Harry Yeff (Reeps100) uses AI technology to bend and break the emergent possibilities of the human voice. Over the last ten years, Yeff has fused his voice practice with technology, pushing extended vocal technique into uncharted territory.

-transference- is an AI research continuation of his co-directorial work with Leipzig Opera House on Fusion, a full-length AI ballet. Central to the work is a distinction Yeff draws between two trajectories in AI and creativity: the automation of creative output, and the use of AI to build upon world-class human expertise. When AI entered chess, it did not replace grandmasters. It revealed new strategic dimensions invisible to centuries of human play, and the strongest players became those who trained alongside machines. Yeff asks 'Can this be done for human expression?'

Performed with Patricia Auchterlonie, -transference- uses AI as a sparring partner, surfacing tones, patterns, and emotional textures beyond the current known limits of the human voice. The AI systems are developed through clean, consensual, and bespoke processes, built from the artist’s own vocal data.

-transference- seeks what emerges when a voice practitioner trains not against tradition alone, but alongside a system capable of working towards a healthy human+machine augmented intelligence.

Flight of Kinaree is a Bangkok-born experience that resynthesizes, celebrates and challenges Thai culture through the cutting edge of machine learning, electronic music and folk dance-drama. Performing in London for the first time, AI Sound Artist/Researcher/Director Lamtharn Hantrakul a.k.a 'yaboihanoi' and collaborators Kid Buak Sipp and Kan-Ta harness deep roots in Thai classical artforms like Khon, Nang Yai and Nora as the structural basis for AI systems and algorithms. From machine learning synthesizers which generate sound according to the tunings and melodies of Thai instruments, to performances of new dance-drama inspired by these never-before-heard AI soundscapes, this piece imagines a future where technology empowers modern forms of cultural expression from Thailand, Southeast Asia and beyond. Featuring yaboihanoi's winning entry to the international AI Song Contest 2022 'Enter Demons and Gods - อสุระเทวะชุมนุม', newly composed movement and projection sequences for RBO/SHIFT 2026 and an exclusive artists' introduction to Thai Music and Dance.
