With Götterdämmerung soon arriving on the Main Stage, join director Barrie Kosky and conductor Antonio Pappano in conversation on the themes and inspirations behind the epic conclusion to Wagner’s Ring cycle.
Much like the earlier operas in the cycle, Kosky situates the rich apocalyptic drama of Götterdämmerung in a contemporary world of dream-like turmoil. Pappano leads a cast headlined by Elisabet Strid, Andreas Schager and Mika Kares, who, with the full forces of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and Royal Opera Chorus, bring opera’s greatest journey to its shattering end.
